Transport girders over train tracks on a main route running through central and southern VA. As usual, the railroad provides track time on their schedule and it’s normally a small window. VDOT also had their concerns with road closure issues.

We asked to assist in shrinking the installation window. Our transportation design allowed the client to build multiple bridge girder assembly’s off-site. When track time was given, we transported the girders with our specialized equipment approximately 1 mile to site for off-loading and setting. Our design saved the client multiple days, equating to approximately 50% savings in time for their original plan for the girder setting process. Installations were completed to the satisfaction of both the railroad and VDOT.
